In Brief

Cambridgeshire golf volunteering roles can help to grow the game

Cambridgeshire County Golf Partnership is actively looking for more volunteers to help it grow the game.

Volunteers can help PGA professionals and junior organisers at golf clubs and driving ranges as they give coaching sessions and run teams, and in schools and community groups, helping to mentor the many youngsters who are finding that golf is a great new sport for them in the school setting.

Media Volunteers Wanted

People with an interest in the media and golf can gain valuable work experience through the growing County Golf Partnership (CGPs) network.

Thirty-two CGPs are working to develop golf through a structured system in golf clubs, schools and community groups, which is geared to attracting new players of all ages. Volunteers are needed to help spread the message that golf is a sport for all.

Young Leadership in golf continues to grow

The game of golf is offering exciting volunteering opportunities for young people at golf clubs and in schools and community groups. This is beneficial for the volunteers (who don’t have to be golfers), great for the children they mentor, but also really helpful to golf clubs.

LGU Volunteers – a valued asset

The Ladies’ Golf Union announces the launch of its LGU Volunteer Club in recognition of the invaluable contribution made to its championships, matches and teams every year by a range of enthusiastic fans of ladies’ golf.

Like all golfing organisations, the LGU is heavily dependent on volunteers - in the week of the Ricoh Women’s British Open alone, over 450 supporters volunteer to help out as scorers, marshals and in a multitude of other roles, and this commitment is replicated at the top amateur events and international matches, such as the Curtis Cup and the forthcoming Astor Trophy and Vagliano Trophy matches.
