Volunteer Programme
‘Tour Team’
As you maybe aware, the Open Championship is returning to Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club from the 15th -22nd July 2012. The Open Championship is the biggest golf competition in the world and it is returning to Lancashire. The Open Championship being in Lancashire presents the County with a whole host of opportunities which will have a positive impact on the local economy, businesses and residents.
There is no better opportunity for Golf Development within Lancashire. Everyone and anyone knows about the Open Championship and we want to engage them further. This maybe done by promoting the fact that people can go and watch the event and take children under the age of 16 free of charge through to providing them with the opportunity to learn how to play.
There is going to be a whole host of activities being delivered to promote various opportunities within golf. The ‘Town Tour’ and ‘Beach Tour’ are just two examples where support will be needed by volunteers to make the ‘Road to the Open 2012’ project the success it poised to be. You may not be a golfer but this is not essential. If you have the skills to engage with the public and communicate with them effectively then you are the person that we are looking for. At these events we will need to have a team who can promote opportunities available in the local area and ensure that people have the opportunity to get involved.
This is a great opportunity to engage with a national project and meet new people within the golf development sector. It will provide you with training backed up with experience in event delivery in a variety of environments. We aim to build a team of volunteers who can support in many environments. There maybe opportunities to support the ‘Road to the Open 2012’ project in many areas such as at club sessions, school competitions, coaching sessions, ‘Town Tour’ and ‘Beach Tour’ events and even at the Open Championship itself.
At this point we want to gain a database of people who maybe interested in getting involved with this project and becoming a part of the ‘Tour Team’. Once we have received your expression of interest form then we can provide you with more information. Please register your interest by completing the form on the following page.
